Greek Revival Dandy # 3 is part of a ongoing series of panting's I'm painting of stylishly dressed young gentleman in front of Neoclassical American Federal or Greek Revival style doorways. In this painted the young Beau is in front of a mid 1830's doorway with elaborate anthemion decoration transom, fluted ionic columns, delicate tobacco leaf carved side lights. The building is gray stucco scored to look like stone blocks. with granite front steps. A pair of terracotta pots hold peppermint stripe camellia topiary's

I was inspired to do this painting by the Taney house located in the French Quarter in New Orleans. Built in 1834 by Edward William Sewell, builder. It is a fine example of a American style Towntouse in the French Quarter.

I have always loved the front door of the Taney house with it Classical architecture and it whimsical over door transom light  

I have painted this beautiful doorway before this painting titled "Marie Laveau Voodoo Queen" now in the collection of Mrs. Leah Chase, Queen of Creole Cuisine, owner of Dooky Chase Restaurant
