Detail of George Caleb Bingham - The Jolly Flatboatmen 1846
The National Gallery of Art, in Washington D.C. houses one of the finest collections in the world illustrating major achievements in painting, sculpture, and graphic arts from the Middle Ages to Modern times. When I lived in Baltimore, Maryland I would visit quite often as Washington was only a $5 one hour train ride away. This visit was in May of 2008 and I show here some of my favorite paintings at the Gallery, Enjoy.

What a wonderful tour, as usual. I have a pair of Bingham portraits, I am very proud of them. The Bissels from St.Louis. Thanks for talking me along. Richard from my Old Historic House
ReplyDeleteThanks Richard Bingham's work go's for a lot of money. Wish I owned one. You should sell them and take a European Grand tour for half a year!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this too! I am going back to look at it again and again!
