    Very different from Ingres' gorgeous French noble women in their gorgeous dresses and stories from classical history. Was this a specific commission?

    Hi Helen I don't know for sure but more then likely this was a commission piece. Ingres is one of my favorite artist mostly because of his beautiful portraits of woman.
